Another storm ... encore la tempête

Ce soir, on est sorti pour aller 'pavoiser' au port de la Tour-de-Peilz, pour voir les 'réjouissances' qui commence déjà (la fête nationale Suisse est le 1 août). On s'est acheté deux barquettes de frites, et on s'est installé aux tables - il y avait déjà quelques gouttes qui tombaient.

On venait tout juste de finir nos frites quand deux policiers sont arrivés et ont dit à tout le monde de partir au plus vite, puisqu'un violent orage était en train de se ruer sur nous.

Alors on est rentré à la maison : cette fois-ci on a fermé tous les volets, sauf à la cuisine d'où j'ai pris cette photo - pas de très bonne qualité, mais au moins ça montre la vague sombre en train d'arriver.

Il n'y avait pas des gros grelons comme lundi passé, mais par contre il y a eu beaucoup beaucoup de pluie en très peu d'espace - impressionant ! En tout cas c'est dans des moments comme ça qu'on remercie Dieu d'avoir un toit au-dessus de la tête (et que ça reste !)

This evening we wandered down to the port of La Tour-de-Peilz (where we live) to see the weekend's activites starting up - Monday is the Swiss national day, so there are lots of things going on. We bought ourselves some chips and sat down at one of the benches - it was raining just a little bit.

We'd just about finished our chips when to police officers turned up and came round telling everyone to pack up and go home, because there was a big storm on the way.

So we headed back, battened down all the hatches (good job we've got shutters) and the west wind didth blow. This photo was taken out of the kitchen window, you can't see much, but you can see the black cloud approaching.

There weren't big hailstones like last monday, but there was lots of rain in a very short space of time - the road was streaming after just a few minutes. These are the moments when you sincerely thank God for having a house and a roof over your head (especially when the roof stays).
