Mi-juin, nous sommes allés à la fête multiculturelle à Vevey. C'était vraiment sympa. Ils ont réussi à créer une ambiance de kermesse villageoise en plein dans la ville.
Mid-June, we went to the 'Multicultural festival' in Vevey. It was wonderful. They managed to recreate the atmosphere of a village fete, even in the middle of town.
Il y avait des stands d'une quarantaine de pays différents, beaucoup de personnes habillées avec leurs costumes nationales. J'ai trop mangé.
There were stalls selling food from about forty different countries, many dressed in their traditional costumes. Even though I'd already had Spanish sardines, and Lebanese and Syrian, I couldn't resist a plate of Indian food too!
Il y avait aussi une scène avec des groupes de musique, puis des gens qui montraient les danses folkloriques de leur pays. Ici c'était la Chili, hôte d'honneur.
There was a state where various groups played, but also some countries put on displays of their traditional dances. This was Chile, who were the special guests this year.
On a tellement aimé qu'on est retourné deux jours de suite. Kalia s'est fait un petit copain Syrien pour qui elle a fait un dessin. Malheureusement il n'était pas là, mais elle est allée vers le stand syrien pour se renseigner et donner son dessin, malgré sa timidité. Elle a été largement recompensée de son courage, puisqu'ils ont été tellement touchés qu'elle a eu droit à un t-shirt, un bracelet, et du pain syrien grauitement. Papa fier.
We had such a good time that we went back the next day. Kalia had made friends with a little Syrian boy and drew a picture for him. Unfortunately he wasn't their, but in spite of her shyness, she went to the Syrian stall to ask after him. She was well rewarded for her bravery, as they were so touched she got a t-shirt, a bracelet and some free flat bread in return! #ProudFather
