Snow & cheese ... Neige et fondue

Il y a plus d'un mois maintenant, j'ai été invité à une sortie 'entre mecs' pour les 40 ans d'un ami. C'était ma première sortie en raquettes. Suivi d'une bonne fondue!

These photos are from a while back (not by me), when I was invited to a friend's 40th birthday - first a blustery walk with snowshoes (my first time), followed by a cosy fondue. A good blokes moment.

Au départ on avait froid, après avec l'effort ça commence à chauffer, après à nouveau froid quand on passe le haut de la crête et on se retrouve face au vent glacial.

On a vu un moment le soleil, mais on a aussi vu pas mal de neige.

We did briefly see some sun, but mostly snow and freezing winds.

Et la fondue était bien méritée. La Suisse, on s'y fait quand même!

All well worth it though. This kind of reminds me of Asterix in Switzerland...

Jet d'eau

J'avais préparé Kalia psychologiquement pour aller chercher notre nouvelle voiture (d'occasion) à Zurich samedi passé. Mais vendredi après-midi ils m'ont téléphoné pour dire que c'était vendu...

J'ai trouvé une aventure de remplacement - aller voir le jet d'eau à Genève, (en trottinette et train).

Cerise sur le gâteau - une place de jeu d'intérieur dans le train!

I'd promised to take Kalia with me to pick up our new (second hand) car from Zurich last Saturday. But on Friday afternoon they phoned to say they'd sold it...

So I found a replacement adventure - a trip to the other end of the lake to see the 'jet d'eau' - by mini-scooter and train.

Added bonus: an indoor 'play area' on the train!

Depuis la gare on est vite arrivé au jet d'eau.

From the station to the lake doesn't take long at all.

Elles se sont mise avec les gens qui donnaient à manger aux oiseaux (droit devant le panneau qui expliquaient pourquoi ce n'était pas une bonne idée!).

The girls joined some people feeding the birds (right next to the sign explaining why it's not a great idea to do so).

On a fait un tour dans un petit train à touriste - à énergie solaire!

We had a little trip on one of those tourist trains - solar powered, as it happens.

De retour, un peu fatigué - Kalia découvre que son 'MyPhone' marche mieux si elle met l'antenne dans la bouche!

On the way home, mildly zonked - Kalia discovers that putting the aerial in her mouth makes the 'MyPhone' work better.

Au départ, Rebecca m'avait dit qu'elle n'avait pas besoin de préparer un sac de jouets: "Mais tu vas faire quoi?", "Regarder par la fenêtre".

When setting out from home Rebecca said she didn't need to get a bag of toys ready: "But what are you going to do?", I said. "Look out the window"...

Pas un tintebin, même si ça y ressemble.

Not a Zimmer frame, though it looks like it.

Il y a quelques semaines Kalia est revenue un peu deçue d'un anniversaire au bowling, parce que ses 'bras étaient tous mous'. Puisqu'il y avait encore un autre anniversaire en perspectif, on est allé avec des amis pour s'exercer.

A few weeks back Kalia went to a Ten-pin bowling themed birthday party, and came away upset that she 'had no muscles in her arms'. Given that she had a second one coming up, we went together to practice, and took a few friends along for the ride.

Il s'est avéré que le tintebin était une bonne combine: regardez les résultats finaux ci-dessous!

At last ... Enfin

Voilà, ça faisait un moment que je n'avais plus mis des 'productions' ici sur le blog. Ce premier vidéo vous donnera une idée pourquoi. Quand je jouais je trouvais que ça allait bien, à l'entendre on dirait que c'était pour une enterrement. Remarquez que c'était le jour où j'ai oublié mes chaussures pour jouer.

It's been a while since I posted any organing here, maybe this first video will show you why. When I was playing it sounded alright, but listening afterwards, it sounds more like a funeral dirge. It's also the day I forgot my organ shoes. I did another version with the big 16" pipes, but my camera can't 'hear' that low...

Not cars ... Pas des voitures

 

Quelques autres trucs ont attiré mon attention au salon de l'auto: ici un point recharge pour appareils.

Other things that caught my attention at the motor show: a charging point.

Et cette oeuvre d'art d'une simplicité et beauté qui m'ont envoûté.

This beautifully simple 'art-work'.

Et chez Seat, de la musique live! Si je n'avais pas été accompagné de quelqu'un qui était venu voir les voitures, je crois que je serais resté scotché là. Je ne suis pas certain que ce soit une super bonne stratégie pour Seat, puisque je n'ai remarqué aucune de leurs voitures!

On the Seat stand, they had live music. If I hadn't been with someone else, I don't think I'd have budged from there. Not sure it's a winning strategy for the make though, I can't say I noticed any of their cars!
