Nice post on InternetMonk (yes, the site lives on), about not confusing our internet 'presence' with real life.

I liked the final three remarks:

• You may have a position on the gay lifestyle or gay marriage. How many gay people do you know and relate to regularly?

• You rant and rave about the decline of morals in our society. Do you have any relationships with “sinners”? Do you welcome them into your home and sit down at table with them? Do you develop long-term friendships with them?

• How much time do you spend online? In front of the TV? Hooked to some electronic gadget? On the other hand, how much time and energy do you give to genuine relationships, down to earth activities, serving others, having real conversations?

Pour une fois, les deux soeurs se sont mise de mèche pour faire quelque chose qui n'était pas une 'bêtise' !

Retirement ... Retraite

Dimanche 18 c'était le dernier jour de 'travail' de notre pasteur, Jean-Marc. Il part pour une retraite bien méritée.

On a passé toute la journée à l'église, c'était un dimanche de rêve !

A part deux petites apparitions pour chanter dans un 'cinquour', et jouer du piano, j'étais à la garderie avec d'autres. C'était sympa.

Le matin, Kalia a fabriqué une maison en biscuit avec l'école de dimanche. L'après-midi on a été dehors et elle a eu droit à des dessins sur son visage et ses mains (pour une fois que c'est 'permis' !)

Sunday the 18th was the last day of work for our pastor, Jean-Marc. Now he's off for a well-earned retirement.

We spent the whole day at church, it was great.

Apart from two little cameo roles - to sing in a 'quintet', and accompany Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring on the piano, I spent the rest of the day with the babies and toddlers (though not on my own!).

Kalia got to make a house out of biscuits in the morning, and face and hand-painted in the afternoon. She was very happy and didn't want to come home.

Trampoline

La semaine passée, les voisins d'en face nous ont offert une trampoline que leurs enfants n'utilisaient plus.

C'est un monstre ! Et les filles s'éclatent.

Last week, the neighbours over the road gave us a trampoline that their kids didn't play on any more.

It's a bigg'n, and the girls are loving it, for the moment.

Cold walk ... Promenade à froid

J'ai eu congé la semaine passée. Pas de bol, il a fait plutôt moche (et même pire pour le week-end où on est descendu à Florence !)

Ce qui nous a pas empêché de sortir se promener.

I had last week off. Unfortunately the weather was pretty naff (and even worse during our weekend near Florence).

It didn't stop us going out for a cold walk.

Une petite pause pour se reposer.

Short pit stop for a rest.

... et pour voir passer le monde.

... and watch passersby.

Rebecca a fait une crise parce qu'elle ne voulait pas tenir ma main pour marcher sur le muret, et je ne voulais pas la laisser toute seule.

C'est sa soeur qui a trouvé la solution.

Rebecca threw a wobbly because she didn't want to hold my hand to walk on the wall, and I didn't want to let her go on her own.

Kalia found a good compromise.

Plane day ... Sortie en famille

La semaine passée on a fait une sortie en famille pour aller voir les avions à l'aéroport de Genève. On a profité du wagon 'enfants' sur le train aussi.

Last week, we had a family day out to see the planes at the airport. We made the most of the childrens carriage on the train too (yes, you read that right, in Switzerland, some intercity trains have a special children's carriage, with climbing frames, slides, etc).

A l'aéroport, nos deux princesses sse tiennent la main pour ne pas se perdre. Cela arrive de plus en plus, c'est trop mignon.

At the airport, big sister holds little sister's hand, (and little sister accepts). It happens from time to time.

Quand elle a faim, elle a faim, et les avions c'est pas très intéressant. Rebecca s'est installé dans un coin avec son casse-croûte.

When Rebecca is hungry, NOW is not quick enough! She found herself a little corner to eat her biscuits.

Dans le restaurant (chic, cher, et pas spécialement bon), il y avait une chaise spéciale faite de couteaux, fourchettes et cuillères.

Unfortunately, the only place you can see planes from is a posh restaurant - horribly expensive and not even particularly good food. They have a special chair made of cutlery.

L'autre jour j'étais super frustré de ne pas avoir mon apareil photo avec, puisque j'ai vu un Google Car parqué pas trop loin de chez nous.

Par bonheur, le lendemain je l'ai revu, et cette fois-ci j'avais mon appareil avec!

I was miffed the other day to run across this Google car and not have my camera with me.

Fortunately, the next day it was parked nearby, and I had my camera this time.
