Far niente

On est à mi-chemin de notre troisième - et dernier - jour de 'repos'. A part une petite 'excursion' pour me 'montrer l'Afrique' hier (voir ici), on est resté tranquille ici dans le jardin à s'amuser avec les enfants.

(Special post for my sister, who says I'm spending too much time on the computer, for what it's worth, I haven't looked at my emails since I left, and I'm in no hurry to).

Now we're half way through the third day of 'rest and relaxation'. Apart from a little excursion to 'show me Africa' yesterday (see here), we've just been hanging out in the garden with the kids.

Ce matin, j'ai eu le privilège de couper les cheveux des deux garçons, avant qu'on a été invité chacun son tour avec Pop dans leur tente.

This morning, I had the privilege of trimming/cutting the boys' hair, and then me and 'Pop' took turns being hosted in their tent.

Quand je dis s'amuser avec les enfants, ce n'est pas seulement Joshua, Bethany et Caleb, mais aussi Josiah, Anna, Elisabet et Jonatan.

Kalia s'éclaterait ici, il y a toujours quelqu'un avec qui jouer (et aussi parfois se disputer), les enfants passent toute la journée à jouer dehors, à pieds nus bien sûr.

Oh, when I say hanging out with the kids, that doesn't just mean Joshua, Bethany and Caleb. But also Josiah, Anna, Elisabet and Jonatan.

Kalia would have a ball here, there's always someone to play with - and the kids spend all day outside, with no shoes on, of course.

Daniel & Libby sont en pleine préparation pour partir à Nairobi dans un mois. Mon père est allongé dans la cuisine en ce moment en train de débrancher la machine à laver pour le préparer à être transportée par avion lundi. Sur le mur de la salle à manger, Daniel a marqué avec du scotch l'espace qui leur est disponible dans l'avion pour leur cartons - toute leur vie - ou presque - doit rentrer dans cet espace!

Daniel and Libby are gearing up to move to Nairobi in a month's time. Dad is lying down in the kitchen as I type, fixing up the washing machine to be transported by plane on Monday. On the dining room wall, Daniel has taped out the size of the space available in the aeroplane for all their boxes - the entire sum of their worldly goods (well, not quite, but not far off).

Demain, nous commençons l'étape suivante de notre aventure - et de la leur. Daniel, mon père et moi partons en voiture pour Nairobi, il faudra deux jours pour y arriver. Rien que pour aller à Arusha il faut compter 12 heures.

Tomorrow, we start the next leg of our adventure, and theirs, as Daniel, Dad and I set out to drive their car to Nairobi - it'll be a two day affair. The drive to Arusha will take about 12 hours.
