The 'after' party ... Le retour

Très atypique pour un mariage anglais, il y avait un retour le dimanche matin. Encore plus atypique, c'était sous forme d'un petit 'culte' sous la tente, avec chants et une mini prédication.

Less than usual for an English wedding, there was a 'slight return' on Sunday - even more unusual, there was a short Christian service too, in the 'big tent'. Brought back a few memories from long, long ago.

Les filles (à quatre toujours) se sont bien amusés.

The girls (the four of them) carried on having good fun together.

Oh, oui, un autre truc atypique dans ce mariage atypique - il n'y avait pas de traiteur! Tout le monde a apporté quelque chose, et tout le monde (ou presque) a mis la main à la pâte pour aider aux rangements - y compris pour emporter toutes les restes !

Oh, another unusual thing about this wedding - there was no catering company. It was all 'DIY' - everyone bought something along, many many people helped tidying up in different ways (here's the washing up), and lots of people 'helped' with the leftovers too!

The party ... La fête

Après la cérémonie du mariage, on est vite allé changer les filles en quelque chose de plus confortable - il faisait 28 degrés là-bas (pas mal pour un 1er octobre en Angleterre!).

After the wedding ceremony, we dashed back 'home' quickly to change the girls into something a bit more comfortable (it was 28 degrees - not bad for a 1st of October in the UK!)

On a vu passer un Montgolfier - tellement près qu'on a cru un moment que c'était une surprise pour le mariage.

A hot air balloon went by so close that we thought for a moment that it might be a special wedding surprise.

La fête a continué jusqu'à tard, avec de la musique 'live' - ici nos deux filles (avec leurs deux copines - aussi bilingues) prennent un moment de repos (elles ont beaucoup dansé !)

There was a live band in the evening, here the girls take a short rest from dancing like crazy with their two bilingual friends.

Pas évident d'habiller les filles, de les garder propre, de s'habiller soi-même, ET de prendre des photos.

It's not easy to get the girls dressed up, keep them clean, get ourselves dressed up, AND take pin-up photos.

La seule que j'ai réussi à prendre de Rebecca.

This is the only one I managed to get of Rebecca (by the way, she's 'smiling').

Toute la famille, bien habillée, souriante (plus ou moins) et sans grimaces (presque).

Here we are in all our glory, dressed up, smiling (more or less) and no silly faces.

Mixed up ... Mélange

Les choses sont un peu mélangées ici sur ce blog. On a était en Angleterre en famille pour un mariage, et depuis je suis déjà retourné cette semaine pour le travail, mais j'ai pas encore commencé avec les photos du mariage !

Alors sans plus attendre : nous avons logé tout près de l'église, dans des étables reconverties en chambres d'hôtes, nommés The Stables. Le voyage depuis l'aéroport était un peu hard, à cause des bouchons sur l'autoroute, j'ai pris le chemin bis, qui nous a pris un sacré bout de temps. En plus, c'était la première fois que je roulais à gauche depuis des années - j'ai failli faire un choc frontale!

Things are bit bit mixed up on this blog. We went to the UK for a wedding two weeks back, and I've already been back this week for work, and I haven't even got started with the wedding photos yet!

So here we go: we stayed very near the church, in some converted stables, aptly named The Stables. The trip there was a bit hairy - it took an age to get the hire car, then there were traffic jams on the motorway, so I tried cross country, and that took an age, and included me narrowly avoiding a full frontal (haven't driven on the left in years!). 

Le mariage ne commençait qu'à 13h30, donc on a eu le temps pour visiter les animaux et la ferme.

The wedding start in the afternoon, so we had time to visit the animals.

On s'est fait un petit picnic devant "l'étable".

And we had a little picnic in front of the 'stable'.

Gymnastics ... Gymnastique

Juste avant d'aller au lit, la tradition familiale veut que c'est chacune son tour sur mes épaules. Quand Mamma est dans les parages, c'est tout le monde en même temps !

Notez la valise en préparation derrière - on a fait une escapade un peu folle le week-end passé !

Each evening before bedtime, I carry one of the girls (alternate days) to bed on my shoulders. When Mamma is here, they all pile on at once!

Note the suitcase in the background - we went on a special week-end a way, as most of you probably know!

Haircut ... Coiffure

Il y a deux semaines, Kalia a été pour la première fois (oui, de sa vie !) chez la coiffeuse, où elle s'est fait coupé un peu les cheveux. Elle était très fière.

Si vous regardé bien la photo, vous verrez que notre cuisine est en transition - à bientôt pour des photos 'définitives'....

Two weeks ago, Kalia went to the hairdresser's for a haircut - for the first time (in her life!). Just for a trim of the split ends, she was very proud.

In the background you may observe that our kitchen is undergoing some transformation: more here later when it's 'finished'.

Industrious ... Industrie
