New toy ... Jouet

Je suis tombé par hazard sur un blog d'un programmeur qui parlait de ses problèmes de douleurs dans les bras, et de son nouveau clavier.

Puisque j'ai aussi eu des problèmes de douleurs depuis un certain temps, et surtout parce que le clavier était à un prix imbattable - comparez ici ($98.99) et ici (£23.93)- et SURTOUT parce que c'est cool, je m'en suis acheté un.

J'en suis assez content, mais l'emplacement de certaines touches est déconcertant.

I was looking through another programmer's blog a while ago, and came across a post where he talked about his problems with RSI, and a new keyboard he'd bought.

Given that I've also been having wrist and arm pain recently, and that the keyboard was at an amazing price (compare here - $98.99 with here - £23.93), and mostly because it is just too cool for words, I got me one too.

I'm fairly pleased with it, though the strange location of the Delete button (far left), and the backslash (top right), make things a bit awkward at times.

Pas de nouvelles depuis un certain temps. Pas eu le temps, puis rien de mirabolant à raconter - en tout cas rien qui m'inspire.

Not much activity here recently. Haven't had much time, and nothing amazingly profound to say either.

Reading ... Lecture

De retour à la mine lundi, après une semaine de congé.

Après mon périple en Angleterre (où j'ai pu savourer les plaisirs d'un Fish & Chips pour la première fois depuis longtemps !), on est resté chez nous, tranquille, en faisant quelques petites virées.

On est allé à deux manger au restaurant l'Olivier, c'était super bon. C'est seulement après que j'ai appris qu'ils avaient eu des points 'GaultMillau' cette année, et pour cause.

Un autre jour on est allé prendre notre petit déjeuner à la Brûlerie du petit train - ambiance et accueil sympa. (Et bon café aussi).

On a aussi été visiter le magasin de Benoît Lange, et on a mangé au restaurant indien Shalimar (dans une yourte). Aussi très bon.

Back to work today after a week off.

Following my jaunt to Blighty (where I had my first Fish & Chips in yonks), we stayed here at home, just doing a few little excursions.

Went to eat at a local restaurant, l'Olivier, very very nice indeed. Only discovered afterwards that they recently got 'points' fromt 'GaultMillau'. Definitely deserved.
Another day we went and had a late breakfast at a local 'tea room', the Brûlerie du petit train - really nice atmosphere, friendly people, and nice coffee too.

We also went to visit the Benoît Lange shop, and had some lovely Indian food at the Shalimar restaurant (in a 'yourt').

Reclining ... Installée

Pour la première fois récemment, Rebecca a réclamé la télé pour elle.

La voilà, installée confortablement.

Je ne crois pas qu'elle soit restée longtemps tranquille comme ça, ce n'est pas de son âge !

Here she is, reclining comfortably. She didn't stay like that for long though, she's at the up-and-at'em age!

Floppies are dead? ... Fini les disquettes?

Vous avez encore des disquettes 3.5" pouces ?

Je pensez que les disquettes étaient définitivement abandonné. Mais j'ai remarqué un truc amusant aujourd'hui - quasi tous les logiciels utilisent encore une disquette comme icône pour l'action 'sauvegarder'... Drôle.

Do you still have a few floppies tucked away in a drawer somewhere?

I thought that floppies were no more, but I just noticed something quite amusing. Most programs still use a floppy for the 'save' icon...

No more baby ... Plus un bébé

Suis en Angleterre, visite eclair pour voir mon frere et sa famille (en visite depuis la Tanzanie), mes parents (60 ans de mon pere) et ma soeur (pas encore de blog!).

Tres bons moments passes avec chacun.

Currently on a lightening visit (on my own) in the UK, seeing my brother and his family (back from two weeks from Tanzania), my parents (Dad's 60th looming) and my sister (who doesn't have a blog yet!).

Very good times together.
